Driving east or north? One night in a private park, just off the A2.

If you are driving the A2 towards Berlin or Poland, or heading through Hanover to Denmark and Sweden, you will want somewhere to sleep halfway. A motorway motel will do. But a few minutes from the Garbsen Nord exit lies the Schlossresidenz: fourteen apartments and suites in 80,000 square metres of private parkland, with breakfast at a long shared table and quiet instead of lorries.

Why stop here

Close to the A2. Exit Garbsen Nord, then a few minutes to the gate.
Arrive when it suits you. Check-in from 3 pm via the key safe. You receive the code in advance, and it works all night, even if you arrive late.
Free parking outside your door. A charging point for electric cars is in the courtyard and is billed by consumption.
Breakfast included, daily from 7.30 to 10 am, even for a single night. If you need an early start, make your own coffee in your own kitchen.
An apartment, not a room. Every unit has its own kitchen or kitchenette and its own bathroom.

An evening here

After a long drive, stretch your legs in the park: two ponds, old trees, alpacas and black swans. The sauna is available day and night, and in summer there is a natural swimming pond. There is no restaurant in the house or in the village. For a hot meal, drive a few minutes to Garbsen or the Blauer See; our suggestions are listed under Food and drink. Coffee, tea and cake are available all day in the lounge.

Which apartment

For one night as a couple, one of the compact apartments with a terrace is plenty, such as 05 Feuervogel or 03 Blauer Storch. Travelling as three, the suites 06 Singschwan and 08 Paradiesvogel have a sofa bed. All units with photos and current prices: Apartments and suites.

Check-out by 10.30 am.
Bookings from age 18; travelling companions are welcome from age 12.
Pets are not allowed.
No air conditioning; rooms under the roof can get warm on hot days.

More time?

If you have more time, make a weekend of it. Hanover is a quarter of an hour away, and the Steinhuder Meer lake and the Herrenhausen Gardens about twenty minutes as well. More under Surroundings.
